Ensuring access to quality education for all

Education is at the heart of Reliance Foundation’s vision for India and central to the country’s social and economic progress. At Reliance Foundation, we firmly believe that children and young people, when given the right opportunities, possess the potential to accomplish remarkable feats.

Our Founder-Chairperson, Mrs. Nita Mukesh Ambani, a passionate educator at heart, embarked on a journey to empower the children and youth - the future of the country.

Our commitment, therefore, extends across the entire educational spectrum, from a strong grounding through early childhood education initiatives to facilitating access to global quality, high-quality higher education.

Our approach

Aligned with the needs of the future, Reliance Foundation uses a two-pronged approach to accelerate India’s educational quotient, through initiatives spanning primary, secondary and tertiary education:

  • Nurturing India’s youth and future global leaders to develop solutions to India’s challenges and, in parallel, ensuring equitable access to education for all
  • Developing world-class institutions that serve as models to transform and strengthen the country’s education system

Reliance Foundation’s educational initiatives strive to enhance quality access to education for all. These contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 (quality education), Goal 8 (decent work and economic growth) and Goal 10 (reduced inequalities).

“It is my goal to see that every child in India gets the right to education and the right to play.”

- Mrs Nita M. Ambani Founder-Chairperson, Reliance Foundation

Critical phases of intervention in education such as early childhood, school, and higher education with components including sports and digital skills amongst others, have positively impacted the lives of countless young individuals in India and laid the foundation for their future where they can thrive and achieve their potential.

Major challenges in access to a meaningful education remain for the most disadvantaged population of India. Improving learning outcomes requires strategic reforms and interventions at all levels of the education system and there is a need to close these gaps. Studies show that intervention in early childhood capitalises on a period of rich brain development for children and can help them achieve their full potential. It can lay the foundation for good health and nutrition, learning and educational success, social-emotional learning, and economic productivity throughout life.

Thus, Reliance Foundation’s engagement is not just in early childhood education but also in primary, secondary, and tertiary education to provide a stepping stone for upward mobility through increased confidence, access to enhanced education opportunities, and increased earning capacity, also enabling them to contribute towards the financial wellbeing of their families. As Scholarships play a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to education while empowering youth to pursue their dreams, Reliance Foundation decided to take this commitment to the deepest level becoming the single largest corporate scholarship provider in India through the Reliance Foundation Scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships.
