Widening access to quality education
is the key to harnessing India’s
demographic dividend for economic
and social development. Government
efforts have improved access to
primary education in recent years,
but wider inequalities remain in
secondary and tertiary enrolment,
exacerbated by the pandemic.
A comprehensive education strategy
calls for enhancements to primary
and secondary education as well as
the creation of tertiary institutions
to promote high-quality research
and innovation.
