DISASTER
MANAGEMENT
India’s unique geography makes it susceptible to
a wide array of natural disasters. Nearly 60% of its
landmass is vulnerable to earthquakes, while 40
million hectares are prone to flooding and landslides.
The Global Climate Risk Index 2020 marks India as
the 5th-most vulnerable country to climate change,
which is magnifying the impact of natural disasters
especially for underprivileged communities already
facing socioeconomic problems.
Considering these challenges, disaster management
is a major priority for India today. The varying and
often rugged terrain makes it difficult to deliver relief
to all corners of the country, and this year, COVID-19
restrictions made it even harder. Against these odds,
Reliance Foundation has pulled out all stops to help
communities prepare for disasters better, and to
recover from them faster
